Background

Professional Experience

Neal Oberg is an accredited mediator and arbitrator with over 40 years of experience facilitating disputes, separation, and divorce, specializing in family and farm conflict resolution. Neal received full membership in the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society (AAMS) in 1988, completing extensive training until earning his mediation and arbitration accreditations in 2009 and 2010, respectively. He has worked in private conflict resolution practice since 1984 and as a mediator with Alberta Justice Dispute Resolution Services and Civil Mediation Program since 2010.

Neal’s expertise in farm divorce and succession results from running his successful farm for over 40 years before transitioning to a mediation career. He has a Bachelor of Science and Agriculture, a Master of Agriculture, and Faculties of Agriculture and Business degree, all from the University of Alberta, providing him with the expertise to advise clients in matters unique to agriculture and farming. Very active in the agriculture community, Neal’s expertise has been invaluable to several organizations, including serving as a member of the Alberta Institute of Agrologists (1972 to 2012) and Director of the Board of Directors of Agriculture Value Added Corporation Ltd. (2002 to 2011), and as Director of the Alberta Science and Research Authority (ASRA) Board of Directors (2000 to 2006).

Neal infuses a patient, thorough, and empathetic style coloured by personal experience to bring invaluable knowledge and guidance to every client.
