Hiring a lawyer does not give you control – in fact, you do not need a lawyer to divorce.

There is a belief that the way to take control in your divorce is to hire a lawyer. It’s actually the way to give up control. Once you are in the throes of the system, it’s almost impossible to get out. When statements of claim are served, affidavits prepared and signed under oath, court appearances are threatened and attended – you cannot stop the train wreck. The issues that need to be resolved were lost in the confusing, reactive, merry-go-round of legalese, filings, correspondence and court banter. Only when you look very deeply can you find the essence of your issue, buried within the rubble.

The thought of doing it on your own is both daunting and unrealistic. If you do not have independent legal advice, your contract may not stand up under the scrutiny of the courts. So it seems you are trapped. There is a way out. You are best served to get legal advice to know your rights and obligations. To negotiate parenting and money issues, you are best suited with professionals who have strong financial and parenting backgrounds. Can you have the best of both worlds? You bet you can and that is exactly what the Fairway Process™ offers.
