Saskatoon Divorce FAQ's

Can I still use Fairway Divorce Solutions if there is not an office in my City?

Fairway Divorce Solution has worked with couples throughout Canada and parts of the United States.  If one or both parties are unable to meet in person, they are engaged by telephone from beginning to end.  No step is missed and no one person goes uninformed.

What property gets divided?

If you are married, everything you own together or in separate names is divided (usually equally) between the two of you, subject to specific exemptions:
Property acquired prior to the marriage by one of you;

  • An inheritance
  • A gift from a third part to only one of you;
  • Proceeds from a personal injury claim or insurance settlement.
How do you protect the children?

Fairway Divorce Solutions serves to protect children of divorce from needless and destructive conflict.  The Fairway Process is a practical, step-by-step, proven process that achieves divorce through a non-conflict resolve, all the while empowering each party and protecting their children, assets and dignity.
When children are in the picture, Fairway Divorce Solutions offers a comprehensive co-parenting plan, called the Fairway Nurtured Children PlanTM, that outlines everything affecting caring for the children, including holidays, education, child support, etc.  This comprehensive plan is designed to ensure positive co-parenting.

What is a legal divorce?

A divorce is a method of terminating a marriage contract between two individuals; your divorce will give each of you the legal right to marry someone else.

Do I need a Lawyer to Divorce?

 No.  However, it is highly recommended when there are assets and children involved that you do receive independent legal advice.

I’ve already started my divorce using a lawyer. Is it too late to switch over to the Fairway Divorce Solutions?

It is never too late.  Fairway Divorce Solutions has a number of couples who are frustrated with the cost and emotional strain of using lawyers.  The Fairway Divorce Solutions team advises divorcing couples to research and understand divorce options and choose a process that is designated to meet the needs of both parties and their children.

How long will the Fairway Process™ take?

Fairway Divorce Solutions® aims to complete the process within 120 days from the time that all of your financial information has been provided.

Does the Fairway Divorce Solutions approach use lawyers?

Lawyers are brought in at two stages in the Fairway ProcessTM.  First, matrimonial lawyers are brought in to educate divorcing couples independently during the What is the LawTM Seminar step.  Lawyers are retained by the clients during the final step to ensure the clients get independent legal advice and prepare official legal papers for divorce.  Also Fairway Divorce Solutions encourages clients to retain lawyers during the process when legal advice is required.

How much does it cost to work with Fairway Divorce Solutions? How is this different from the traditional System?

Fairway Divorce Solutions charges a flat fee ranging from '$'2,000 and up per person, with the average fee costing around '$'8,000 for both parties.  The flat fee includes meetings, seminars, and the two-fold resolution plan that secures a fair division of assets and a detailed co-parenting plan that protects the children.

The Traditional divorce system engages lawyers who charge by the hour (not including paperwork and photocopies) with no guaranteed minimum or maximum amount.
